Come say Hello! Atlantic Highlands Historical Society Flea Market…10-4 today. Sept 12th.
Took Wednesday off from work to head out on the Avery Lynn and look for mahi! I found them…got lucky with them and saw life on 2 pots. Light tackle madness at its best. Screaming runs and peeling drag on the 20lb test. Had to walk around the boat a few times with each fish to land them in the net.
Got out to the middle grounds yesterday under blue skies and warm water. After finding clean water to the southeast, proceeded to look for life. Found some Mahi and went 5 for 6…losing one boatside. My buddy Steve & his friend Mike had a fun day otherwise. Covered 110 miles Roundtrip on the Avery Lynn SeaHunter! Hit the fluke grounds on the way back for some fluke and sea bass to close out the teifecta.
Bill DiStaso and comapny…..fishing on the Avery Lynn the past 7 days! August 1st had Barry, Tim C., Glenn out for a great day…..10 out of 12 keepers with the largest going almost 6lbs. Thursday was British Dave and myself….5 nice fish and one huge sea bass. Saturday August 8th…had Bill C out with me for an amazing morning trip! Limited by noon with a 6.5 lb fluke to finish off the week. Fluke fishing has definitely picked up!
The Sandy Hook Bay Anglers 44th Annual Fluke Tournament is all wrapped up!
We want to thank each and every one of the Anglers, boat captains, sponsors and club members that made all of this a Successful Event. It was a pleasure seeing everyone at the Captains meeting and giving away all the door prizes. There were many smiles on peoples faces when the boat number was drawn.
The Veterans Fishing Trip fundraising raffle was a great success. We were able to raise money directed towards our efforts to give back to those who served in our armed forces. Getting as many people as we can out for a day of fishing and camaraderie is our goal here!
The weather cooperated with the exception of a couple storms on Saturday afternoon. They didn`t seem to dampen any spirits though. Everyone fished hard both days to get over the finish line.
At the end one team….Fisher Price…stood out!
Capt Derek`s team with a 7.88 Fluke won the top prize. 2nd place was won by J. Williamson with a 5.32 fish…and 3 place by C. Loiselle with a 4.96 fish…..4th thru 6th was very tight as well. T. Shea at 4.92 in 4th…Rouse in 5th with a 4.87 & finally in 6th it was Salnick with a 4.71 flattie. C loiselle won the ladies prize with Lex winning the under 16 youth prize of a rod and reel as well.
