2024 Sandy Hook Bay Anglers Membership Drive!
Missed our annual Tog Trip?? You could`ve been there…..we are gearing up for the 2024 Season ahead. Our call is going out for those interested in joining the Sandy Hook Bay Anglers Fishing Club, we would be happy to have you. Our purpose is to do some good for the community as well as a lot of fishing! Please feel free to email for an application or more information. Be sure to follow us on Instagram & Facebook as well.

So last weekend….had both days on the water. Saturday was terrible results. Anita officially caught her first tog. A small female that went back to grow up!
Sunday was a much better day with Barry landing a 9.2 lb beast on the Avery Lynn. Caught it on a new setup from Jigging world from Gary at Fishing Flea Market. We totaled out with 8 fish on terrible conditions. Wind against tide…rough seas….etc.

The Sandy Hook Bay Anglers hosted our Annual Blackfish Trip on Mondy November 20th. Thanks to Bingo Sportfishing for a great day on the Water. The tog didn`t quite cooperate but….we did land some nice fish. Thanks to Gary and Fishing Flea Market for the donation of a gift card for the pool winner.

Sunday the 5th was a great day on the water for a bunch of the members. Pictured here is Barry H with a nice striped bass caught livelining in the Arthur Kill. Apparently the "British Rubber Hooks" only worked once…..lol. Tim S was up in the back water amongst the crowd as well with nice fish also. Both caught and released a number of fish!
I personally stayed away from the crowd in the AM and got a couple shorts. Togging wasn`t very productive in the bay as no keepers taken. On the way back in I fished the same area as the morning off Monmouth Cove and was rewarded with a very nice keeper AND…another 13 fish in the span of about an hour and change. As you can see from the depth sounder, it was shooting fish in a barrel. I was dead tired after all that action….netting and releasing.

Wednesday was a beautiful day on the Water! Awesome weather and semi-cooperative fish. We got our tog limit and a few nice sea bass for the table. Better being on the water than at work!
A shout out to Rhodan Marine for the assist in getting me the parts for my spot lock quickly and excellent support in the same.

Not a good day to fish. Boat still floating and Sandy Hook Bay is nasty. Barnswallows are enjoying the wind apparently!

Last couple trips were fantastic but Wednesdays trip wasn`t as good. Looking forward to the fall fishing season! Tog…Striped Bass..etc are going to be awesome. Don`t forget….looking for new members for the club. Next meeting is October 13th in Atlantic Higlands. Hope to hear from some of you about joining up.

8pm this Friday, August 11th, the Sandy Hook Bay Anglers will be holding their next monthly meeting at the Atlantic Highlands Senior Center in the Atlantic Highlands Harbor…opposite the party boats. This is the same location as our captains meeting from the successful Fluke Tourney just this past month.
All are invited to attend if anyone is interested in joining the club! Feel free to email if there are any questions .

We would say it was a success with 75 boats entered and a great many more anglers being involved. Congratulations go out to those who placed and won! The honorary Sea Bass Calcutta was new for 2023 and also a success In honoring the passing of our longtime member Chet Zegler…may he rest in peace. Tight lines to everyone.
